The Project of Establishing the Center for Studies and Analysis of Immigration Policies in Jordan
 
In cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and by its funding, the Ministry of Labour is executing a project of establishing the Center for Studies and Analysis of Immigration Policies in Jordan, as the execution of this project has started at the end of 2005 and continued till 1/9/2006, its achievements have included the following:

1. Holding a training program by an expert of International Organization for Migration (IOM) for a number of the employees of the Ministry of Labour about the issues and policies of immigration and the management of its affairs.
2. Issuing a report about the migrating workers in Jordan and the economic, social and security effects of that on the Jordanian labour market by the team concerned with the immigration affairs of the Ministry employees along with its translation into English.
3. Participating in workshops and local and international symposiums about immigration and immigrants.

The second phase of the project has started on 1/4/2007 in the new building of the Ministry after a suspension that lasted for (7) months, working in this phase will continue for other six months as Mrs. Theodra, an expert in the International Organization for Migration, has undertaken the duties of running this project. Besides, His Excellency, the Minister of Labour has appointed Mr. Nabeel Ammar/ Arab and International Relations in the International Cooperation Directorate / as a Project Coordinator.

Objective of the Project:  

Reinforcing the efforts of the Jordanian government in setting its policies related to immigration on accurate, analytical and scientific bases and merge the immigration issues in the priorities of its strategies through providing an accumulation of information about the immigration issues in the area generally and Jordan specifically.
