National Training & Employment Project (NTEP)

This project comes in line with the efforts of the Ministry of Labour to reduce the rates of unemployment in Jordan, especially among the youth (males & females); with the aim of training and employing the job-seekers, and increasing their competencies according to the labour market requirements and needs. The project is put into action with the assistance of the Jordanian Armed Forces, the vocational education and training institutions in the public and private sectors, companies operating within the Jordanian labour market, and the Fund for Support of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Project's Mission Statement and Vision:

Our Vision: To be choice number one for the job-seekers when it comes to getting trained in a way that is related to employment in the labour market.

Our Mission Statement: Training and employing the unemployed youth (males & females) in the occupations in demand in the Jordanian labour market with the assistance of the Jordanian Armed Forces, the employers and the vocational education and training institutions in the public and private sectors.

The Sectors Targeted in Training and Employment:

Training will be in the vocational sectors of high labour intensity or those that have domestic workers; these sectors mainly include:

  1. Industrial sewing.
  2. Hotels and restaurants services.
  3. Assembling machineries and equipment.
  4. Making metal and wooden products.
  5. Construction.
  6. Sales.
  7. Any other sector in which there is a need to train and employ the workers.

Targeted Category:

  1. Job-seekers from the Jordanian citizens.
  2. Males and females.
  3. All academic levels.
  4. Ages (18-36) years old.

Training and Employment Phases:

Training and employment in this project consist of the following phases:

  1. Specialized Vocational Training: it lasts from (3) to (6) months; it includes basic career training in a specialized training center or in the workplace. Training in the workplace on the production lines follows.
  2. Employment: it lasts for at least one year under an employment contract signed between the trainee, after his/her graduation, and the employer; under the supervision of the project's administration.

The Benefits the Trainees will Get:

  1. Monthly Rewards:
    • A monthly reward that is not less than the minimum rate of wages during the specialized vocational training phase.
    • A monthly salary that is equal to the one paid to his/her peers in career and not less than the minimum rate of wages during the employment phase.
  2. Transportation means to the workplace are available.
  3. Social security: the project undertakes to pay the trainee's subscription in the Social Security Fund.
  4. Medical insurance: every trainee is medically insured by his/her employer during the employment phase.
